Day 36: Hour 3

Hour 3 - 3.00pm to 4.00pm - 2,034

Total: 6,135

I'm really bad at sticking to things. I managed to get 3 solid hours of writing done so at least I managed that and I got over 6k.

Overall Total For February: 8,198
Overall Total For Year: 44,447

Getting closer to my January goal XD. By my calculations I should be at 58,933 so I'm still 14,486 words behind but another few days like this and I should catch up in no time.

Day 36: Hours 1 and 2.

So, I've been writing for the first couple of hours and here's my stats so far.

Hour 1 - 11.30am to 12.30am - 2,069
Hour 2 - 1.00pm to 2.00pm - 2,032

Total so far: 4,101

I'm on target so far so I'm happy with that. The half hour breaks in between are useful for chilling out my brain a bit so I don't over do it. I don't think I could do 9 hours of straight writing but with the breaks in between I'm managing nicely.

Day 36: Finishing Today!

I'm going to attempt something a little crazy today. I'm going to try and finish the girls side of Love, Life and Friends today, which means writing about 20,000 words. I think I can get it done, or at least get close. I'm planning on doing 9 hours of writing today. I usually write about 2,000 words in an hour so I can squeeze in 18k and with the extra words that I write in every hour session I'm hoping that'll add up to the extra 2,000.

So, my first hour session will be from 11:30am to 12:30am, i've got 20 minutes to prepare my plot line and then I can start my first session as soon as it's half past.

Wish me luck! I'm gonna need it.

Day 35: Sick But Writing

I got little to no sleep last night since I've been feeling ill since about 3am. I've been writing for the last hour or so, working on Love, Life and Friends. I'm starting to think that if I work on it solid today I could possibly get it nearly finished if not finished today. The current wordcount for the entire story is 13,086, which is pretty short but as I've said before I don't think this story is going to reach the 50k. At the most I think it'll reach 30k. I'm just looking forward to it being finished, I've had this story in the works for about 2 or 3 years now so I don't care how long it's going to be when it's done, I just want to get it done.

As soon as I finish Love, Life and Friends I'm going to continue working on California Bound. I'm also going to start whatever story I said I was going to do during February in my first post. I'll have to look back to see which story that was exactly but hopefully I'll get a lot of it done during this month.

I'm going to be spending the rest of today doing nothing but watching films and writing. I've set myself a target of at least 10k for today, which is acheivable at the moment but depending on how I feel later in the day and how much inspiration I get for the story I might not make it.

Day 33: Writing Again.

I am officially writing again. I went back over all my totals from January again and my total is actually 33,981 not whatever I put yesterday. I have 16 stories that I wrote during January (well 13 stories, 2 short stories and 1 script). I'm back working on Love, Life and Friends at the moment. I've worked out that with my target of 66,019 I need to write around 2,450 words everyday. My wordcount for the day is currently 4,414 so I think I'm doing well. If I keep going at this rate I'm hoping that I can get Love, Life and Friends finished by the end of this week. I start work at the British Red Cross tomorrow at 10am and I think I'm working through til 5pm but I'm not 100% sure on my working hours yet. I won't be doing much writing during Mondays to Thursdays now since those are the days that I'll be working but Friday to Sunday I'll be able to write like a maniac again.

So, my goal for this week is basically to get Love, Life and Friends finished. I haven't been on the WriYe website for a while and I'm not sure whether they'll have culled me or not...I keep meaning to go on it but I never get around to it. I think I'm just gonna let them cull me, having to keep checking the site was sort of getting on my nerves so it'll be easier for me to just update on my progress here. I'll still keep my target of 600,000 words for the year and then maybe next year I'll keep posting on the WriYe website and stick to it. I'm hoping that Love, Life and Friends will come in near the 50k mark, it's at 10k just now. I don't think there's going to be enough story in the first draft for more than 50k, at least it doesn't look like it at the moment. Once I get that story done I'm going to go back to working on California Bound to get that story finished. California Bound is sitting on around 9k words at the moment but I've been figuring out the storyline for it a bit more so I know roughly where everything is going.

I'm hoping that by the end of February I'll have completed Love, Life and Friends and California Bound and have my next novel started. Not sure which story I want to write next, my list from the start of the year has been completely thrown out of the window. I'm thinking I might try rewriting my NaNo 07, ever since I got the proof copy from Createspace I've been reading through it and seeing a lot of mistakes that I want to fix. So, Love, Life and Friends, California Bound and Destiny Approaches. That's my February sorted.

Day 32: February!

Would you look at that! It's February! January flew by. I'll admit I didn't do much writing during the end of it but I did get some done so let me just get the old calculator out and see how much I wrote during January...

January Total - 36,249 words.

So, I was 13,751 words short of my monthly 50K total. To make up for that my goal for February is 63,751 to make sure that I stay on track.

I think I'll continue working on Love, Life and Friends and California Bound in February and I'm also counting what I type for California Bound's script in my wordcount. I hope that I'll get all three completely finished during this month and hopefully I'll get a good start on whatever story I had planned for February, I'll have to check to remember what it was.

I'm thinking I might struggle with the wordcount goal a bit now that I've got a job...well, almost got a job. I've got an interview with the British Red Cross today at 11am but I was there Wed, Thur and Fri last week to fill in forms and stuff like that so I think the interview is just a formality at this point. So, that's a good thing. Next step is getting a job that actually pays me since the Red Cross job is voluntary. If you're wondering why I'm going for a voluntary job instead of a paying job it's because I have no experience working in retail shops so I'm going for experience and also because I haven't had a job in almost 3 years.

And while I'm here, California Bound : The Movie is coming along nicely. I've been working on the first part of the animation, the first scene is completely storyboarded and I've begun working on the backgrounds for scene two (one is complete and coloured). I was using Flash to piece it all together for timing purposes but it decided to break on me yesterday and I can't fix it so I've switched to ToonBoom for the moment and I have no idea how to use it so this is causing a problem in my animating department. In the voice acting department, I've had 6 people sign up to audition for roles, 1 being a friend, 2 being Lizzy's friends and 3 from the NaNoWriMo forums. I've emailed all of them (except my friend, we talk over msn) but I haven't had anyone get back to me yet about it. I'm thinking this could be for two reasons. 1. The fact that I mentioned the script wasn't finished, they might not like that I'm working in chunks rather than a straight A to B. 2. They didn't like the concept and have decided not to go ahead with the voice audition afterall. Neither bother me and if that is their decision then that's fine but I would appreciate it if they got back to me, even if it was to request a longer script...I have written a little more now than when I first emailed them. I really want this project to work so I'm working really hard on it but it'll collapse under me if I can't get a good team of actors behind me.

So, fingers crossed that they'll all get back to me soon and also that I can keep up with work, writing and animating.
