December 5th : I Will Finish This Novel!

Yesterday I was going to write a massive amount for my 2010 NaNo to try and get it finished a little quicker but I discovered that I'd misplaced the notes I'd made which detailed the rest of the plot. Not wanting to wing the rest of the book I was frantically trying to find the notes. I must've searched every corner of my room, as well as several other rooms, before I gave up. I wrote a few hundred words yesterday and then called it a night. Only when I sat down at my computer to watch a film on it I found that my notes had been sitting in the pile of papers that were on my desk right in front of me the entire time >.>

Anyway, now that I've got my notes again I'm determined to get at least 5,000 words written today. I've done about 350 words just now, but that was only 5 minutes of writing so I've still got a bit to go yet. I really want to get this novel finished by the end of next week so I have enough time to edit and polish it before I put it up for sale on Createspace.

I really want to publish my novels but I don't want to go through the whole query process with agents and publishers so self publishing through Createspace seems like a good idea for me. Here's hoping I can at least get a few sales out of it :)

December 3rd : It's The End Of The Year Already?

I can't believe that it's already December. I rediscovered this blog again last night while chatting with a friend about WriYe and I've decided that even though I didn't quite make it this year, I'm going to do my best to complete it next year.

NaNoWriMo was awesome, I decided to stick to my original plan from my very first post on this blog and do a rewrite of my 2007 NaNo for this year. It went really well and it's almost completely different from the 2007 version of it. The characters are the same, the towns are the same (with a few more thrown in) and the overall plot is the same, the journey is completely different though. I managed 50,191 during November but the story is only 1/3 of the way through. Still got lots more to write which I'm hoping to do this month.

Speaking of totals, I checked the last post that I made a total on and the last known total I had for this year was 74,072 but a few posts after that I'd written more so I'll need to dig out my documents and add up all the wordcounts to get the exact amount. Think I'll do that now...

Total Wordcount Before NaNo: 87,237
Total Wordcount With NaNo: 137,464

I'm actually quite proud of that total, even though it falls drastically short of my 600k goal. With the rest of my NaNo still to write in December I think I can push that total over the 150k at least. I'm already looking forward to next years WriYe, I started a few stories that I really want to work on next year and finish.

Day ??? : Why Am I Still Counting Days?

I seriously have no idea why I'm still counting how many days it's been this year for my post titles. I'm clearly not going to hit my target this year. That being said, I enjoyed the experience while it lasted and I'm not giving up entirely. NaNoWriMo is just around the corner and I'm super excited and ready to start writing like a maniac again. Roll on November 1st!

So, as some of you may have guessed, I've been really busy over the last couple of months. Not a lot has changed for me, I'm still working in the cash and carry although hopefully not for much longer. I have this possible new job opportunity glinting on the horizon and I hope that it comes to fruition. It'll majorly suck if it doesn't.

But anyway, back to this blog. I know that I seem to give up far too easily when it comes to my writing and I do agree with you that I do. So, I'm going to make an effort to write more in the run up to NaNoWriMo and during NaNoWriMo and then possibly in December too...depending on how worn out I am by the end of November. Here's hoping I can at least break the 150,000 word barrier by the end of the year. I have no idea what my current total is and at the moment I don't have the energy to try and figure it out.

I'm going to head off to bed now so I can sleep and hopefully when I wake up tomorrow I'll have a brand new plot bunny waiting for me to chase.

Day 209 : Alright, Got The Ball Rolling.

So I actually got some writing done today. I wrote around 4k today so I'm pretty pleased with that. It's not as much as I should have done over the past couple of days. Short post tonight guys but I'm tired and have work in the morning so that's all I've got.

Day 203: I'm Tired...

It's 11:30am and I'm really really tired. I actually woke up this morning around 7:30 but tried my hardest to get back to sleep since I'd stayed up a little later than usual last night. Didn't go so well and I ended up having a series of naps instead. Ah well, c'est la vie as the saying goes. Time to get writing. I've got just under an hour before I have to get ready and catch my bus for work. I think I can possibly knock out 1,000 words in that time...if I stop typing here.

Day 202 : Massive Wordcount

I got a grand total of 700 something words written tonight. I'm tired, my eyes are sore and watering. I need a break from the writing and probably a heck of a lot of sleep. I've got crappy work tomorrow but not until 2pm (although I have to get a bus into work at just the back of 1pm otherwise I'd be late). So, depending on what time I actually wake up, I might get some writing done before I go to work and then I can definitely do a little writing when I get home after work (although that'll probably end up being around 8 or 8.30pm...ish. I finish at 7.30pm but I have to wait on my dad finishing all his little tasks before I can actually go home. It sucks.)

I'm looking forward to tomorrow though, the dvd's that I ordered last Friday should be arriving. I was expecting them today but they didn't come...obviously. I think I'll make myself hold off on watching them until I've written at least 2,000 words. That should be a good motivational boost.

Day 202 : Wordcount Update

So, I finally got around to transferring all my files from the old laptop to the new and I've tallied up all the words that I've typed since the beginning of the year. My current total for the year is 74,072. I'm pretty pleased with that total considering I haven't written anything at all for about 5 of the 7 months that we've had so far. Quickly trying to calculate what I should be at right now...

Actual Total: 74,072
Target Total: 335,007

Um...oops? I think I need to rethink the 600K end of year goal. Then again NaNoWriMo is coming up and I may just surprise myself with it. There's still 5 months left in this year and if I was to write 5K everyday from now on then I should be back on track by...September 6th 2010.

I'll probably end up forgetting about it again but hopefully not. Hopefully.
